Technical Analysis
Tasmania Pinot Noir is part of Trentham Estate's carefully-selected Family Reserve Range that aims to epitomise the best the region has to offer.
Tasting note
Semi translucent bright red colour with a light purple hue. Fragrant ripe cherry and strawberry scents mingle with forest floor characters and a subtle meatiness. The palate is adorned by fresh red fruits infused with fresh herbs and underlying spice. Bright acidity and finely grained tannins complement a savoury, medium-length finish.
Vinification details
Harvested during the cool early morning temperatures, the grapes were destemmed without delay, except for a small percentage of whole bunches which were added directly to the fermentation vessels. The fruit was allowed to soak at cool temperatures for 5-7 days before wild fermentation commenced, then inoculated with cultured yeast and fermented at between 25-30°C in stainless vessels. The wine was gently pressed off skins prior to full malolactic fermentation. Bottled under screw cap to preserve aromatics and fruit expression.
